HOW CLOSE CAN I INSTALL A 400 AMP 120/208 VOLT PANEL FROM A SINK. INSPECTOR STATES 17" BUT WAS NOT CERTAIN. THIS IS A 6' LONG SS SINK.
400 AMP MDP IN COMMERICAL KITCHEN.

There is no code on distance from a sink as long as the clearances are made. Now if you have a local amendment but I am betting that 17" is made up.

408.37 damp/wet locations refers to 312.2 which says enclosures need to be suitable for. IMO the AHJ needs to make the call on suitable for. If not, IMO I would refer to 110.26(A)(2) which says clearence is width of equipment or 30 inches, whichever is greater.
