Hello all,
I have a few questions. Installing a 400 amp service with 2, 200 amp panels. Using 320amp meter base with 2 ser cables to panels. First question is Do I need a disconnect after the meter? The ser cable run is around 15-20 feet inside the home. (will probably use pvc). Do I need 2, 200 amp disconnects or can I use 1 400 amp disconnect? Do they need to be breakers or just a means of disconnect?
Secondly, I am installing an automatic transfer switch that is service entrance cable rated. My plan is to put one of the 200 amp panels on the generator and have that as my "critical load panel". Also, do the 2, 200 amp panels need to be evenly loaded? Or is it fine if the load on each panel doesn't exceed 200 amps for my load calculations?
