I know this has likely been beat to death & I believe I understand the code correctly, but I still have one question.

I have a few outlets on a covered porch that I believe would fall under the "damp location" requirement and not need in-use covers. However, I have a couple that will not be protected by a roof and, I believe, will require the "bubble" covers. Feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken.

My question is, what are some of the better "bubble" type covers out there? I've found a few that aren't cheap plastic. But all of them are still ugly (IMO). And how the heck are we supposed to keep wasps from crawling up in the holes & calling this their home? I've not used an outlet with one of these covers yet, but I think I'll have a can of Raid handy the first time I do.

I agree with your assessment. I agree that many of the available "in-use" covers are not very attractive. If I had the choice, I would use the Arlington "In-Box". You get the benefit of an in-use box without the look of one.

Another vote for the in box. The best looking solution available. Apparently Arlington is the only manufacturer that employs people with creativity.

Installed 8 of the Arlington "cut in" in box receptacles over the weekend. Those guys have a great product. Now we'll find out if it's paintable :D

I've been wanting to try out some of those in-boxes. They look pretty snazzy in the magazine.

Alas, poor tract homes can't justify them! :(

The next nice house I do is getting them, though. :)

I like Taymac in use covers. They are far better than most, but still not robust enough for a commerical application.
Hardly anyone carries them, you have to place a minimum order.

I just checked out arlingtons in box .Nice but is the cover integral with the box it seems like it is.That would be an issue when non caring stucco crews slam thier walk boards around.

They just completed a donut shop by my house. I stopped by for a coffee on the grand opening week, and I had to smile as I walked past a receptacle with the remains of a bubble cover attached. Another vote for Arlington.

There is another brand that makes a great flush mount rough in kit for stucco or Dry vit. I can't remember the manufacturer. Just installed one today.

Hello, Would anyone please post a picture of the Arlington In Use Box and Cover. I remember seeing one before, but now I can't find a picture...even with the power of google. Also, can these be used in commercial, or just residential? Thanks! :)

Yes they are paintable!

Wish I knew about these for a job we did 2 yrs ago. Too late to change.

I don't know how true this is but I was told by one supplier that when using a translucent cover, bees will not nest inside. However, using a solid PVC cover will invite them to nest. The presumption is that they need both heat and darkness.
