CODE LANGUAGE: Other than the required interconnections and control wiring, only those conductors that are
intended for termination in a vertical section of a switchboard or switchgear shall be located in
that section.
VIOLATION NOTES: The parallel runs are installed in separate vertical sections from the breaker they back-feed. In
addition, the requirements in NEC Art 310.10(G)(2) for parallel runs shall be used (i.e., be of the
same length)"

The Code exception states Conductors shall be permitted to travel horizontally through vertical sections of switchboard and switchgear where such conductors are isolated from busbar by a barrier.

What "Barrier" can I use passing through each vertical section to bring it up to code and make it safe?

We would typically use crown boxes on top of the sections to pass the conductors from one section to another. Sounds like that is not an option so you made need a switchboard company to manufacture a barrier.

Could you run a 2.5" wireway or conduit in that section?

FWIW I was once involved peripherally in a situation where a UL agent came out to field list an installation with a similar issue. The fix involved non-metallic liquidtight around the conductors, which was secured to fiberglass strut, and stuff like that.
