I need this article clarified, 410-73G.The inspector said I need a disconnect in every flour. fixture. I went and bought those cool orange disconnects and installed them after the fact. But for future issue I would like to know. The code says bipin type fixtures, and exception #5 says if multiple fixtures on a non multiwire branch circuit you may have 1-disconnecting means as long as it is within sight and you don't put the whole space in darkness. Does this mean I can disconnect with a switch or do I have to use the breaker, and if the switch can be used can it be a single pole or must it be a 2-pole because it says nuetral and hot must be broken?

If you are working in MA the code refernce is 410.130.(2008)

The disconnecting means is for new luminair installs , not ballast replacements.

A single pole switch is ok if the luminair is not supplied from a multiwire branch circuit.

The switch must be insight.

The wall switch is allowed if the row you are working on may be shut off and does not leave the area in darkness.

You may purchase luminairs with the ballast disconnects factory installed but I have heard negitive reports.

I'm not looking at the book so this list is a overview.
