430.28 motor feeder taps

A vendor supplied drawing is showing 4 motors tapped off a feeder with #12 AWG conductors to the CBs which then feeds the motors at 460V, three phase and 10hp. The feeder is #2AWG. The 12s are not one third the ampacity of the #2 - it’s more like one fourth. Should the number 12’s be upsized to 10’s or am I missing something?

don, would the #12s not be permissible under the 10ft tap rule depending on the size of the OCP device :?

If you meet the conditions of 430.28(1), 12 AWG would be compliant.

I did not address the 10' rule because I assumed the 25' rule based on the "1/3" mentioned in the OP.
