For an outdoor generator in an outdoor enclosure, may the remote shutdown switch/button be located inside a building such as a control room? Or is the intent to require the remote shutdown switch/button to be located outside of the building? The code states it is be located outside the generator enclosure, which to me means it can be located pretty much anywhere as long as it is a readily accessible location and not in the same enclosure as the generator. Thoughts/Answers?

In this case, the generator is not visible from inside the building. Could put it in the interior of the building right next to exterior door I guess, but still is on a different side of building.

As long as it is readily accessible, it can be located anywhere. The code gives zero guidance as to where it can be located.

I was going to look at a PI to say within sight, but that does not work for generators that are in buildings as the emergency shutdown can't be in the same room as the generator.

Maybe shall be within sight of the generator enclosure for outside generators, and adjacent to the door to the generator room for inside generators.
