hopefully thats the right article this is from memory and dont have my book in front of me. But my question is transformers 600 v and under completely enclosed vented or not fall under the exeption to the 12" rule, and the manufacturer recomendation is 6" so my interpritation is with that exeption there is no minimum clearance? any input.

If the manufacturer tells you 6" it should be 6" IMHO.
