480 volt corner ground delta questions

This seems like a stupid question, sdbob, but why not just ask the POCO to reconfigure the transformer configuration to a more commonly used one (or one that would more closely match the requirements of your equipment)?

I ask this because the transformers are connected to neither line nor load.

Tbonse, one aspect of the corner-grounded delta that cannot be overlooked is the economy of it's use of conductors. It may well be cheaper even after special parts (the goofy meterbase, straight-rated breakers, etc) are purchased.

I have to say, seeing someone encounter one of these for the first time definutely brings to mind the rule "Keep It Simple, Stupid." :D

It sure seems like it would be easier on all parties just to use a more conventional system and forget about it! It's fun to think about, though. :)

Apparently this was the only voltage available. I don't know enough about utility voltages and transformer configurations to understand why. I'll ask around.
