480v underground service drop

utility pole is not in a place for damage to occur. but i cannot find in code book how far up the pole you have
run pipe ?also should it be schedule 80 or40?

Your POCO handbook is the place to look.
Sch 80 is typically required, at least for first ten feet. Very common for damage to conduit on pole.
Our POCO has very well done drawings, require conduit to be on standoffs, first one in the dirt, next one at 7 ft to prevent climbing the pole. Sometimes they want a handhole at the base of the pole. Very much up to POCO
