480v wye service neutral size

The OP states it is an 800 amp service, the chance of that being done with one set of conductors is pretty low.

I agree with Winnie. I believe the OP thinks he needs 3 separate neutrals for his 3 phase conductors.

Is the paralleled 600mcm in separate conduits or all in one?

Sounds like 3 separate raceways with 3-600's ungrounded and 1-#1/0 neutral in each raceway.

I plan for 3 sets of (2) 600mcm cu for the ungrounded conductors, and (3) 3/0 cu for the grounded conductors. I wasn't looking to bare minimum the neutral, but was wanting to make sure I was in code compliance. One reason I used 3/0 was because I can fit 2 600s and 1 3/0 in a 2" pvc nipple.
Thanks for all the replies.

3 sets of 2 or 3 sets of 3 on the ungrounded?

So you will have 3 separate PVC conduits?

You will have (2) 600kcmil Cu conductors in each conduit, both the _same_ phase?

You will have (1) 3/0 Cu conductor in each conduit for the grounded conductor?

I believe that this installation runs the risk of large induced circulating currents on the parallel grounded conductors.

Are the conduits entering enclosures through metallic or non-metallic openings?

Check requirements for 'isolated' phase installations.

How long are the conduits (you say nipples)? I think you will find that you are violating conduit fill rules.

I didn't give the isolated phase setup any thought before, but if that is what is being done all the grounded conductors would need to be in the same raceway.

I agree with the statement to check the requirements for isolated phase installations if that is what is being considered.
