B bennie Esteemed Member Jun 12, 2003 #2 Re: 50A breaker for a spa 680.44 Protection. applies. If you call it a combination pool/hot tub or spa it does not require GFCI protection. I never realized that the name changed the degree of safety. How come a plain old hot tub needs protection?
