In 520.25 dimmers are listed for use. Is this saying that it is not a "switchboard" or Switchgear? there are very different rules for switch gear than there are for dimmers. thanks.

I don't see where dimmers are either switchboards or switchgear. But I don't think I'm completely understanding the question.

If it is a switchboard, 520.53 I have to enclose with substantial construction, if it is wood, then it must be covered with metal. If it is a dimmer pack but not switchgear , then it doesn't have to be enclosed. So feeders and switchboards have more stringent measures you have to


520.53 states that dimmers , the terminals shall be provided with enclosures.
this is under 520.53 construction and feeders, does that mean that if you make it yourself?? thanks for the reply.

I have almost no experience with stage and theater equipment and I'm not familiar with the dimmer packs used. So I can't help much.
There are two things I can tell you.

1. I'm really curious to find out what 520.53(E) means. :)
