9600?240?1.25=50A. 3A for fan motor still under 55A. Told our guy its good but wanted to check with you resi experts.

As always,
Thanks

Did the manufacturer provide a nameplate on the unit with the rating of the equipment, other than the wattage?
Some have a nameplate rating with the amperage and OCP size, having already performed the calculations, hence you would not need to multiple by 125%.

Seems 424.28 requires such a nameplate.
For what its's worth, I see many, many 9.6 kw air handling units and about 1 in 10 have motors that take the MCA above 55 amps.

Chris check the nameplate as many of them will work with #6 but lately I have seen more that draw 56 amps requiring a NM #4. I suspect you got the right numbers but I would double check the nameplate.

Thanks all. This guy is roughing a house where he says 2 of the 4 AHU's would be impossible to pipe. There is no nameplate to look at, only the specs which we all know many times conflict with the equipment installed.

There are control electronics in the AHU too, so need to add that. I had the same quandry and ran individual THHN in flex instead. Good thing I did, as the MCA was 57.

FWIW, I saw the name plate of the units to be used today.

9.6kw

59A MCA

60A MOP

The gentleman running the job said he's tired of piping them and 6/2 MN is fine.

Chris, why would you need to pipe it. Just run 4/3 seu cable or 4/3 nm

Hey Dennis, hope your feeling well buddy. I did see your post#6 in this thread yesterday and suggested this today. To the best of my limited knowledge 4/2 nm is not a stock item around here.

Its out of my hands now, why would you call me and have me research something for you and not take my advice? Thats how we operate at our company!:-?
