We've lain or pulled a 4th wire alongside the triplexed more than once.
I've never heard of Dominion selling cable. But then, I have never asked; mebbe I should.Go to your local utility, ours sells it . . .
Is it listed at all for NEC applications? Most utility wire is not. I would also think they would not be stocking/selling one that has an EGC.Go to your local utility, ours sells it at about a 1/4 of the price, and usually have 1000’ spools to cut from. It’s not listed for inside use, but you can convert over before you go into the house. You would have too anyway to fit under a 50 amp breaker.
Eventually found 1/0 with #2 EGC for $5,000 per 1kft vs $2300 without EGC.
Well if I hire you for a job, I'll be supplying material m'kay k?Eventually found 1/0 with #2 EGC for $5,000 per 1kft vs $2300 without EGC.
You can use it outdoors, just not for inside wiring. I think it has to do with burn characteristics. No, they wouldn’t have one with an EGC, but you can add one, or get what they use for three phase (quadraplex)Is it listed at all for NEC applications? Most utility wire is not. Dominion may not, but EMC’s usually will. That’s one of the perks of being part owner of the utility.I've never heard of Dominion selling cable. But then, I have never asked; mebbe I should.
Thank you,No chance #2 is big enough.
Even a 1/0 has 5% voltage drop at 45 amps
That would be bare minimum
Utility provided underground cable I've seen around here is simply USE rated only - so is NEC acceptable but not for indoor usage. Is it listed at all for NEC applications? Most utility wire is not. I would also think they would not be stocking/selling one that has an EGC.
