600v wire ?

This may be a foolish question but is it safe to assume 600v wire is good for both 600v Ac and DC. I have always seen the 600 v rating and was not sure
 
Thanks I think I over thought cause sometimes I see disconnects marked 600vac/250vdc
It is more difficult to break an ac circuit than a dc circuit (no zero crossing to help break the current in dc) so, it either has a lower voltage rating, or it will be a 3 phase disconnect telling you to loop one leg of the dc through two poles of the disconnect.

EDIT to correct. It is more difficult to break an ac circuit

That has to do with the arcing across the contacts as the switch opens, not the voltage while it is closed.
Thank you Jim. I just kept over thinking. As many DC arc chutes I deal with I should have thought that.

Don, did you meant more difficult to break a DC circuit?
