As has been noted, it doesn't say "receptacle" it says "each arc welder." For the case of one circuit feeding multiple welders or multiple welder receptacles, I am not sure I agree that the ocpd can't be the disconnect for all welders/receptacles.

Look at it logically. Would you feel comfortable with six welders striking at the same time, each rated at 40A, and ONE overcurrent device protecting the cable at 60A?

I agree that would not be compliant. I was only speaking of the disconnect issue in my previous responses. Sorry for the confusion.
