680.21 questions

According to 680.21(A) I can use PVC. 680.21(A)(5) I can cord and plug connect with max 3' cord length and 680.22(1) need to use twist lock. So if I use PVC conduit install min#12 insulated ground wire. Locate single twist lock receptacle within 5' of inside pool wall all is code compliant?

Do you mean within 5' or at least 5' away.

The twist-lock must be a minimum of 5' away, but read (680.22 (A)(6)) on how to measure the 5', and the twist lock must be GFCI protected.

Must be 5ft. away from the inside wall. That has been changed to 6ft. in NEC 2008
 
I think the 2008 code for pump outlet is still 5' from inside wall of pool. The change from the way I read it is 6' from the inside wall for the convenience outlet. Is this correct?

No, the 5' measure is gone from everywhere.
It's all 6' now.

2008 680.22(A)(1)

Receptacles that provide power for water pumps.......10' or not less than 6' from the inside walls of the pool when the following conditions are met.

Disconnects can still be at 5' ,..as long as it is not an attachment plug

Over 10' hardwired, twistlock, or straightblade [GFCI for plugs]

General Purpose plug(s) '05
Within 5' not allowed

10' to 20' minimum one for dwellings [680.22(A)(3)] + all GFCI [680.22(A)(5)]
Over 20' GFCI unless you fall under one of the exceptions such as snowmelt or non-dwelling non-public space [210.8(A)(3)+(B)(4)]
