Following up on this item again regarding high rise buildings, I just noticed that the 2009 IBC moved "electrically powered fire pumps" from its previous location in the list of standby power loads (403.4.7.2) to the list of emergency power loads (403.4.8.1). Note that these paragraphs within Section 403 are numbered differently from the 2003 and 2006 editions.Fire pumps are actually rarely considered to be an emergency load. The IBC requires fire pumps to be considered a standby load for high-rise buildings.
