I'm installing a 50 amp RV outlet on a power panel. The charts indicate you can use #8 for 50 amp but my co-worker is saying I need #6. The length of wire is less than 5 feet. Comments please.

Use aluminum #6.
I doubt that the RV outlet has 75° C terminals so your #8 is NG unless you want to pigtail the #8's to #6's at the outlet.
Only good for 40 amp at 60° C.
In 20 years I have never seen this flagged. Millions of range and RV outlets are done this way, etc.
