So I am called out to an apt. complex (8 bldg's - 2 story flat roof) circa '80's because the fire dept inspection found no power at the multi building pull station main fire alarm panel. Bit o recon found 120v hot leg short somewhere down a 400' run of EMT on one end-ummmm romex out the other end of the building, re-models add on's etc. ("Oh,.. someone in the last year put in security camera's I think they stole the power...") So my solution is to run a new nm-b dedicated circuit from the "common house sub panel" to re feed the alarm main panel and tape off the "old wires". Back of my head whispers "Does this need to be in EMT?... Why was it partially fed that way? .. old buried j-boxes somewhere down the run? Comments please..
