What is the MCA value on the air conditioner's nameplate? Number 14 wire may be large enough and it is permitted to put larger than normal breakers on air conditioner wiring. Now the lack of cable fittings is a violation.

Ill post a pic of this as I am going there tonite.

Up to you but i would pull my sticker off.I agree with the other that this might cost you time and lawyer if something went wrong.Normally i am all for stickers and they can pay off but sometimes there are jobs i dont want my name on.Had a GC slum lord once and anytime i worked on one of them units i would defer the bill to some ligit house as an extra or he could hand me cash. They were not might catch fire units just when.

The wire only has to be good for the MCA rating, not the breaker rating. The max breaker allowed will be 1.5X to 2X this value.

I may not be the NEC police but I do abide by the standards. If I find a problem, whether it be a code violation or a wiring problem I will either fix it or inform the HO,GC or whomever it may be that there is a problem and if they do not want it fixed then it is on them. I dont want to be the one who picks up the news that someone was killed because of a problem i could have fixed

I went into the attic tonite to have a look and the 14/2 rx is for the air handler. It is tie wrapped to the copper line and runs directly to the unit. No switch or means of disconnect was installed. Only proection for this wire is the 30 amp breaker. Wonderful..

If the 14-2 is for the air handler, then this is messed up. I thought the compressor feed was 14-2 and protected with a 30A breaker. That could be legal depending on the MCA. Tapping the 30A circuit to run the air handler and compressor is not going to be legit with the methods you described.

Says WHO?

I don't think you have a clue as to how courts work.

Man...I really didn't mean to stir up a hornets nest with my post.
All that I meant is that I don't want my name associated with crappy work in any shape or form. The posts on the legal aspect make some good points.

In Georgia Criminal court and Civil court are two different animals.
Criminal....Convicted by "Guilt beyond a reasonable doubt".
Civil....Decided by the "preponderance of the evidence".
I've sat on juries for both kinds of cases.

Right or wrong if something happens and there is a fire or even death ,a lawyer will sue everyone that even might be to blame. You will loose time and money just to prove your not guilty and dont count on your insurance company to fight it.If the amount is low they might op not to defend the claim and just pay it.Need not tell you what happens to your premium.
