A/C Wiring after the Inverter Must Be Outside?

Interesting take thanks, dang thats odd dont you think? I do see in the 2026 690.13 just points to 705 though,
Are inverter output conductors of a PV system are any different than inverter out conductors of any other system? Say Wind or a DC battery or generator source ? My take is chapter 6 is for specific equipment, and the specific equipment of a PV system might include the inverter but not feeders after it, inverter output conductors are simply feeders.

I agree it should be that way, but it never has been. It took a while for even as much non-solar-specific stuff to get moved out of 690 as we have today. The interconnection section (today's 705.11-12) used to be in 690, got duplicated into 705 in 2008, and then deleted from 690 in 2011. Since then various attempts to 'clean up' or revise 690 for other motivations have lost the thread of making the purpose of each article more distinct. So, we still have inverter output sizing requirements in 690 and maybe we always will.

At one point I was going to submit some inputs to push in the direction you suggest but I have moved on.
