The remote controls are not available as an add-on later. You must purchase a unit with it.

I have the remote control version on my E-350. To avoid putting 4 mounting holes in the roof of the van, I mounted it on the very front of my 10.5' diamond-plate conduit box (y'all know the one, rectangular). This put it nice and high-up and forward and I only had to drill one small hole for the power cable. I ran the power cable from a 30A relay (from the auto store) to the parking lights. This makes sure the thing isn't left on to drain the battery. I'll try to post a pic later.
