It's Afrikaans. It might be the same in Dutch from which Afrikaans is derived.
Maybe there is a "why?".
I have spent some time in South Africa on various projects and I just happened to have my visitor's badge lying on my desk when I registered for a forum. Besoeker. That was quite a few years ago but it seemed singularly appropriate and I have stuck with it ever since.
