How does this relate to the electrical industry and how can this be a permitted post on an NEC based forum?

Same thing when you buy a ELECTRICAL POWERED appliance. Would you like to buy the extended warranty? How long is it good for? It's good for the first year. The manf. gives me the first year in the cost of the item:mad:

Go to bed:D :D :D

I sure that like us you get blamed for everything that was ever broken in a house.
They must have been tired of people blaming them for breaking broken tiles and had to do something.
I think it is a very good idea to address the broken tile issue up front

Who cares what anyone else does. I'm talking here not them!

Well I don't expect that you to care at all about anyone else I think you have made that clear. What I was pointing out is until someone reports a thread they should not complain about it.

Funny how you can get away with saying what you want on here, bet you don't get your way on the job.

What does that even mean?

BTW Iwire I did report it to a moderator so maybe they are not doing their job just ask C.B. about my PM!!!!!!!

We are volunteers, this is not a 'job' and it is not like being an inspector where things are black and white, we do get to use our judgment.

We are never going to make everyone happy.

I don't even remember what thread I moved, closed or deleted of yours but all I can say is ....... get over it.

If the thread bothers you that much dont read it. There are plenty of other threads to read.

Agreed.....don't like the show your watching change the channel. I think the OP kinda had a point to some degree. What I am trying to say is a service is a service whether it is termites or electrical. It sounds a bit shady but so is paying additional insurance to an airline for possible lost luggage....

Nobody is required to read or post here. Many of us are here every day.Its a great learning tool and we get help in areas we might be doing for the first time.Moderators are needed or this would turn ugly.I have had posts removed too.The OP while bit off topic does point out a questionable way of doing buisness.Where i work i am exspected to do my job without breaking anything or leaving a mess for others.Yes we have accidents sometimes but that is covered in our charges and pay or fix.
Perhaps they need to charge extra to cover houses with tile roofs. It would require a lot of walking on them and i can see it as likely a few get broke. The method of asking them to buy insurance sounds a bit wrong. We could never get away with asking for extra money not to damage your building.

It is not my "job." It is a volunteer task that choose to undertake on my own schedule. If you send me a PM on a Friday afternoon, as you did this time, I may well not get it until Monday morning. That is not an effective way to notify the forum management of your concern. Hitting the "report post" link will get emails sent to all the moderators, and to the forum webmaster and administrator. That is far more likely to get someone's attention. But even so, we might not agree with you, that the thing you report needs to be deleted. We are empowered by the forum owner to make our own judgments.

As it turns out, I am checking in on a Saturday morning. And I am not ready to close this thread.

Ruwired "See this thread did have something in common with the electrical trade......You learn something everyday!" Agreed
Kelley ?If the thread bothers you that much dont read it. There are plenty of other threads to read.? Yep!

Relax a bit. Getting worked up over a thread is a waist of time. Life?s too short.

Bakerbrotherelectric wanted to post, if it bothers you just move on to another thread.

On second thought, I actually enjoy reading everyone?s comments so please vent.

So I'm back to look at my post , wow..:-?

(Found out we have termites. Called a couple of companies to get quotes on treating the house. Corky's gives us quote for tenting the house, about $1,900. Here is the money maker!
You can purchase Tile insurance through us for an additional $375.00???????? Ummm, tile insurance, what do you mean? While tenting your house, if we break some of the tiles on the roof, the insurance will cover it. So let me get this straight, you as the contractor tenting the house break some tiles , and I didn't buy your insurance you will not fix it. CORRECT!! I begin to think, how many of our customers would go for such a scheme?
Example:
I'm installing your ceiling fan for $250.00. While installing the fan I just happen to drop it and break all the glass globes.. OOOOPPPPSS, Im sorry about that, but, you didn't purchase the additional $69 ceiling fan breaking insurance, therefore im not responsible to replace it......
What a great idea.. Can some one try it and let me know how it works...)
The reason I posted it in the NEC is more people view the nec section than any other. And who better to share our experiences with then our fellow brothern.(Yes, I'm aware that brothers have nothing to do with NEC either, unless there your business partner, and he is..:D so it applies). Another reason was simply to introduce the fishy concept of charging for insurance on every install. I felt it would have been received well, and for the most part it was.
It's somewhat refreshing after working long hard days to come home to the office, get some office work done, and read some post that aren't directly related to what we do day in and day out. Know what I mean. That would almost be like extending the day even longer, to and extent. Reading all the funny responses was great. Make's you laugh. Don't take life so serious, especially at the end of a long work day..:D

I am now offering Mike Holt Forum Insurance. If you do anything someone suggests on the forum here, and you have purchased Forum Insurance from me, then you will be covered......

What happens if you ghet the "Chinese" termites? Your house will fall in a whole lot quicker. They snuck over here in pallet wood, and are eating the fine state of South Carolina board by board. They are far more destructive because they build warehouse mud tunnels, instead of return to "ground" (theres and electrical term for ya) with the food they have acquired as the local termites do. (So my termite guy told me)
