Michigan has a similar rule.

Electricians must be licensed and cannot do electrical work unless they are the employee of a Michigan licensed contractor. In order to be a licensed contractor, there must be at least one licensed master under the employ of the contractor that directly oversees all electrical work being done. We also have an apprentice to Journeyman ratio.

We have to renew our licenses each year and last year with our licenses came a warning about not being under the employ of a licensed contractor and flat out told us that 1099 work is illegal.

Ditto for WI, although city licenses have to be renewed yearly. Our state license is good for I believe 3 years, renewable with continuing education.

Too bad we didn't have reciprocal agreements. I am out of work and am less than 100 miles from Wisconsin and am in a position where I could bug out for a few weeks and help.

80 of that 100 miles is Lake Michigan, though!

WI doesn't have much for reciprocity. I know they did acknowledge my out-of-state apprenticeship hours which amounted to about 2 years of experience. As far as licensing is concerned, WI doesn't budge. I guess they need the revenue. :grin: Imagine that?
