Above ceiling receptacle

In an office area with a dropped ceiling can I install receptacles above the ceiling to support plasma screens if I use Arc Fault Breakers?

You can install a receptacle above the ceiling, but can't leave the cord for something like a TV plugged in above the ceiling.

You can use AFI breaker, but not required.

As mentioned, the code permits the receptacle but not a cord.

Best bet is a clock receptacle behind or above the plasma.

What if the cord is protected with a metal jacket until it exits the ceiling?

That would not resolve the basic concern. You are not allowed to conceal any portion of a flexible cord because you need to be able to inspect it for damage anywhere along its length.

Isn't a drop ceiling an accessible location, simliar to if a cord was placed behind a 100 pound dresser or such.

No arc fault needed.
If your not having an inspection I would be OK with it.
It is readily accessible, Nothing unsafe about it, if its installed properly.
But it is a NEC code violation. 400.8
