What about the other companies that do the same thing? I did post a link to another company that had the same instructions. Do you know of any companies that do not have that instruction?

Actually the link you provided is the same cable. Kaf-Tech and AFC are both Atkore International companies.

View attachment 8345 The back of the tag has the actual ul stamp.
And what exactly does the stamp mean? The cable is listed, the tag is listed, both are listed?

Well, that puts it right back to square one. It is a code violation to re-identify the conductors of this type of cable because of the instructions with it. So the inspector would still be right, and that email response really doesn't do anything because the "warning" is still on the tags with the product. lol
I still say it comes down to whether or not the tag is part of the listing. And if a tag is required in order to have a listing, does the tag comply with the listing requirement? Sure looks to me like it would be easy to slip such an instruction on the tag and possibly confuse people yet never really get into much trouble over it.

This is kind of like the issue with classified breakers in a panel that specifically doesn't list the breaker as acceptable to use in the panel.

Email update from AFC:
Hello Derek,

This phrase was left in the pocket instructions in error and should be removed. The instructions on the product identification tags are correct. We will be removing this sentence from future versions of this guide.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Thank you,

Upon reading this response from the company, as well as the information on the scanned product identification tags, I wonder if the rolls that were used by the OP were old stock and that the product identification tags on their current products no longer carry these warnings against relabeling the colors.
