I have a Westinghouse WH7500E 120/240V generator that is putting out too much voltage. 180V on the 120V circuit. I have found very little on the web as to what voltage and resistance values I am supposed to get at certain points. One site said that with the generator running and the AVR disconnected, I should be getting 5-10VAC across the brushes. They were very specific as to noting that the + side is always on the left. Is this supposed to be an AC voltage or DC voltage? I am reading 27VAC and 0VDC across mine. Another reading on that site said was to measure the resistance across the 2 rotors and that it should not be above 45 ohms. Mine measures 55 ohms.

The main question is..... are these value generator specific? As in... the one that he was working on needs to have those values, and mine will have different values.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
