How many of you omit the jumper and use the self-grounding feature on receptacles?

Our company sides with Awg-Dawg -- we jumper every recept and switch regardless of the presence (or lack thereof) of the little metal self-grounding thinghy. A little paranoid? maybe. Probably just a habit, we never know what kind of parts we'll end up with on the job...

I love the new ap mc saves a lot of time not making up the grounds and price was no different. I used the Arlington pop in connectors, just cut the armor, cut the ground, push in and go to the next one. The only thing I did not like was a spacer that came on the spools of mc, the spacer had tape on it and you stuck this onto the bx cutter to compensate for the smaller size cable, however it came with different style spacers for the different brand cutters.

To go on a slight tangent, how many of you are still installing Type AC cable (not including HCF), where, and why? I haven't touched the stuff in eons, so I'm just a bit curious.

I thought all the standard MC connectors were relisted for use with MCap? IIRC, they had to approach all the connector manufacturers (ie Arlington, Bridgeport, etc) and get them to relist their connectors for use with it...?

Yeah george. The list is growing. My point was to make sure they are listed for MCap. Also, make sure the integral cable clamps in boxes are listed for MCap as well.

Always, one of the big advantages of using old AC cable or the new MC-AP.

suggestion on mc/ap

suggestion on mc/ap

i have been using this new ap/mc cable everyday for a year now.
plus
-light weight
-easy to skin (esp. for entering into panels )
Neg
- many guys try using the roto split to cut the armor. if you do not put the spacer that is given . many times you will nick the cable.
-i suggest folding over the bond wire versus cutting flush. in experiencewhen you cut the wire flush when making a jumper sometimes you end up pulling the whole wire out of the armor.
