Adding circuits

I have a Crouse Hinds Murray panel in my house (built in 1989). The panel is full and I want to add another 15 amp breaker (for an over the range microwave I am adding). I noticed that there are several 15 amp breakers present now, and they come in 2 sizes. Some are aprox 1-5/8" wide and some are aprox 1-7/8" wide. The 1-7/8" wide breakers have TWO 15 amp breakers in one.

I was curious as to why the various widths? What I was hoping to do was to simply take out a "single" 15 amp (1-5/8" wide) and put in a double (1-7/8" wide) thus giving me two 15 amp breakers where I had one, I then use one for whatever was on the 15 amp breaker now and the new one for the new over the range microwave. by measuring them I realized the singles are narrower then the doubles. Thus simply putting in a "double" will not work - but I am hoping to do something like this.

My knowledge of electrical panels is fairly limited so please let me know if there is some way I can accomplish my goal of adding a new 15 amp breaker to my panel.
