Afternoon
Curious how others would go about advertising for just weekend work. I'm fully insured, licensed master Electrician. The only time I want to work is the weekends. I don't want to lead the customer in believing they are being short changed I just have enough work Monday through Friday.

Would you be charging premium rates for weekend work? Would it be based on time or an agreed price for the job?
I mean, it might suit some who work during the week and would prefer to be around when you do your thing.

Now and again I'll get a tradesman to something I wouldn't do well. But it is for an agreed up front price.

In your advertising state that you're a weekend warrior electrician. Put it on all your marketing materials along with the hours you work over the weekend.

IMHO, irrespective of his credentials, if he posts that he is a weekend warrior he's going to come off as a trunk-slammer, especially if he starts under-cutting other legit EC's prices.

Why not just advertise your services, then schedule the work for Saturday and Sunday? I agree that advertising as a weekend warrior may not be the best way to frame your services.

Maybe the OP is employed by a firm from M-F and is a weekend warrior making cash and under cutting everyone.

"i've been REALLY busy lately, but if i work this saturday, we could do it then......"

you're scheduling, and how you structure your work, is nobody's business but your
own.

you are just SO busy, that the only time you could get to is is this weekend......
that would be my story, and i'd stick to it.

Not trying to slam you but I'm wondering how it works in your state.

As I understand if your a master in OK you need to be registered with 1 business.
Everyone working on a electrical job needs to be a card holding licensed journeyman, master, or apprentice.
So how do you stay busy M-F? Do you have a job that does not require a license?

Geez..... I have a fair hourly rate and my overhead be keeps it that way.

Didn't answer the question -- I too get the hint you are employed by a EC & want to do side jobs -- true this is your decision to make but if I employed you I'd rather you be up front with me about extra activities. Catching an employee taking possible work from my company would not end well. I could be wrong though

This is pretty much how I got my business off the ground, except I worked 4-10's so I had 3 full days to work for myself. I just went out and bid the work then scheduled it for the weekends. No one every really questioned it, and many were glad I could do things on the weekend so they didn't have to miss work, or in commercial settings there wasn't any interference with their daily work or production. Just be cautious of over booking yourself, or getting in over your head on jobs where you end up having to miss your normal day job to finish up things that took a little longer than expected.

Maybe he is. If he pulls permits, then it is his right. I can't compete with those that would choose to hire him over my firm if that is the case. There is an inherent percentage of the population looking for that type of service.

The OP may or may not be a weekend warrior. But the weekend warriors are the ones who take away money and business from the legit business owners.
The customers look at the $$ signs and really don't care about who does the job. They just look at the end and the light bulb works they are happy. (Unfortunately)

As others have said you need to be creative to make the customer want to use you. I have a friend in auto repair. His shop is closed during the day and he opens at 4PM. He does his repairs at night so you can use your car or truck during the day. offers pick up and drop of of your vehicle. Need the water pump changed on your truck but have service calls to do during the day and a ton of paperwork to do when you get home. All you do is call him, he will pick your truck up, do the work and drop your truck off during the night so you will have it for the next morning. he has 5 mechanics 8 bays, prices are inline with other shops in the area. He is always busy.

So be creative and market yourself so the customer will want to use you.
