So stressed..could not sleep last night. My foreman today told me I should not go into the apprenticeship and instead take night classes to learn electrical install. I just don't want to regret not going through the program.....ugh...

In my opinion you don't want to wake up someday when your 50 saying " man I wish had gone for it back when I was 35." I'd go through the program, get the field experience and a license.

If you hate it being in the field you can always go back to estimating, then you'll have hands on training as well.

Remember that saying "the grass is always greener"? It's not always.

Good Luck.

I would go for the training - It will help you in the long run and help you to understand what electricians have to deal with in the field - just because something looks good on paper doesn't mean it is feasible in the field.
I have run across some bosses that would try to keep guys from expanding their education - I don't know why, maybe because they don't want anyone making them look bad?
Good Luck

You should go for it! You can always do estimating again in the future. Getting into the "trade" with both feet is great. Many, if not all of the estimators around here have had some or extensive JW & Foreman experience. Makes them better at what they do. They know where to push, when to let up, and how to get the job to stay in the black.
