We are installing several security cameras on existing wood poles on a project we are doing. The security cameras will be powered off a 120VAC, 20Amp circuit breaker fed from an existing building with aerial conductors.

The question is: Would an equipment grounding conductor be required in the aerial power run between the building and the pole? Or, should a separate Grounding Electrode be installed at the pole location only, or both?

Do you have permission to attach?

Do you have permission to attach?

I trust that these poles have had transverse loading calculations to verify they will not fail with ?" of radial ice on the conductors (you are in a heavy loading district). If they are not your customer's poles, did you contact the owner (power or communications company) to get permission to attach? :-?
