AFCI and GFCI Neutral Pigtail too short

Out of curiosity what would happen if the neutral pigtail failed, any idea? Would the breaker just wouldn’t work, or would the afci or gfci breaker trip?
The neutral is part of the GFCI test circuit so that function would not work, but it would not directly affect the breaker protection.
However the breaker pigtail also carries the load neutral current, so its loss would impact any L-N loads.

If the pig tail only provides the power to the electronics, like in some AFCIs, the breaker becomes an very expensive thermal magnetic breaker.
For a GFCI, if the pigtail is open, there is no power to the loads because that pigtail supplies the neutral for the circuit.
