Good news to all of you who have been losing money because of the AFCI requirements! I just blazed a path through Home Depot, and several hundred dollars later it is with great pleasure that I can report that prices of AFCIs are down. They are no more expensive than the older style and maybe even a few bucks less. So quit yer cryin'

Murray, Siemens, Sq D QO, Sq D Homeline, GE All combo type all $34.97

Cutler Hammer and cutler Hammer BR combo $39.97

My truck has a small selection ready for installation. I think I should beef up security!

HD arc faults

HD arc faults

Home Depot is now offering electrical services here in NJ, and in my mind is now the enemy. I will not buy arc faults or any other electrical supply from them or Lowes regardless of price.

Don't worry Scott, people will still be complaining.

Oh, and how dare you shop at Home Depot. You should be ashamed of yourself. :D

There is a proposal for Anarchy over on ECN regarding those dreaded TR receptacles.

After I left Depot I went to Lowes.

The last time I checked this was the still the USA and they are entitled to offer electrical services. They have to play by the same rules and use licensed and insured contractors. You can even become one yourself.

I consider HD services as a competitor that's no different from the guy down the street.

Why? HD isn't doing the work, they have EC subs do it. Do you really think Sears installs roofing & siding?

Peter
It is EW and they don't know if its combination type, and I can't say myself because I havent needed any this year yet. But when I called today that was the price.

Why put money in the pocket of your competitors ? HD may not be doing the work but they are profiting from it.

The packaging should say combination type of not. I'm surprised they couldn't figure it out, but then again, it's EW, so I'm not surprised. ;)

They sell GE at Depot too. What make's it junk? Besides the fact that it is GE.
everything and I mean everything gets put back on the shelf I have seen to many "opened" boxes to believe anything out of the OB is anything but recycled junk

Peter
If I am reading the CT 2005 amendents correct, the combination types are not required in CT, and on GE's web they say the same thing. Thats why EW's price is lower and why they don't know what they are selling.

But realize the kind of customer that is patronizing HD for their electrical in the new kitchen, or the ceiling fan, or with Sears for the siding or the new A/C system aren't going to ever open the yellow pages and look YOU up. They know they're paying more, but they want the "safe" feeling they get from purchasing the job from a national chain store.
