AFCI PROTECTION SLEEPING ROOMS

Article 210.12 (b) states AFCI protection is required in bedrooms of dwellings. Does this mean it is not required in motels, hotels, domitories and the like??? :confused:

That was the topic in a recent thread,over a firehouse.All we can do is go to article 100 and look up dwelling.Local AHJ would be the call on this.Would think a dormatory is a dwelling.

dormitory- a bedroom for a number of people in an institution. (Oxford dictionary)

I spent four years at college and my daughter is at college now. I did not see any permanent provisions for cooking there.


NYC has an amendment that revises 210.12(B) to include sleeping areas of studio apartments.
