I thought I'd heard that AC's and space heaters were now being manufactured with B/I AFCI on the cord cap as well. Anyone seen those yet?

Yeah, they're called LCDI's, which stands for "leakage current detection...." somthing-or-other. Functionally, they're much like GFCI's. The use of these does not relieve you from the AFCI requirement for dwelling bedrooms.
