Correct, but why cant a GFP simply take over that roll? Both the breaker and GFCI trip in that video when grounded out.

You would think that once an arc fault has reached a magnitude of 75 amps that there would be current flow in excess of 5 ma to an EG in a typical NM cable installation.

On must also look at GFCI's, they sometime randomly fail at the test interval some keep tripping and when it is replaced the outlet works fine,but I have seen them work better than AFCI and avoided potentially dangerous situations.Interval testing is very important.
