Would it be correct to interpret 210.12(B) as not including outlets (see definition of outlet) in kitchens, bathrooms , unfinished basements, garages, and outdoors on an AFCI circuit?? This would mean, for example, that kitchen lights, as well as bathroom lights need not be AFCI protected.
Why would we have to protect a diningroom or hall light but not a kitchen light? Page 90 of the O8 handbook makes it clear that this is the case. Is the handbook contradicting the code book??
 
For some reason they did not include the areas in which gfci protection is required for receptacle outlets,.. I'm not sure why. There is no conflict
