Hi all.
I love the free B estimates. and I do thank you for your free B advice/opinions/direction.

Realtor, used home repairs for sale, new potential owner looking for a number.

New service, fused sub panel in a laundry room with 120v circuits from it.... electric range and dryer as home inspection showed appliances chord chased through wall (to adjacent room)...range and oven originate from main panel.

Question... If I follow the lay of the land where the existing service comes into the house, I should be ok with non afci breakers from that panel., It would make more sense to relocate it 20' away.but then I would have to deal with the afci protection issue feeding the existing circuits.?

From the existing service there are 2 circuits (range/dryer) which the chord's are going thru the wall to adjacent rooms.

The chords and circuits are 2 wire with ground........ If I hard wire the existing circuit through the wall......am I liable keeping the 2 wire with ground (Existing) or do I have to make it a 3 wire with ground (I touched it)? I saw another electricians bid......I'm thinking he's extending.

I would like to extend the existing 120v circuits that come from the fused laundry room sub panel back to the main panel , but again I'm thinking that would possibly have to make me put in afci's at the main panel for those circuits..

If I refeed the 50a fused sub panel with a larger feed and panel (to pick up the 2 appliances and make then 3 wire)(here is the question) should those 120v circuits from that sub panel be afci protected?

Thank you,
Rich

That would be an ahj call . IMO, if you are just making it safer than it was I don't see a reason to make it a 4 wire circuit.
