Recently wired dentist office and we got a AFC rating for the transformer at 26,675 or something close to that. My question is the existing OCPD fuses AIC rating is 200K. Is this correct? Or does the rating have to be less than the 26675 at the transformer( maybe a 20K aic rating for fuse )? Never had this situation before. Mostly did residential. Commercial is a little different. Thanks

The available fault current at the transformer is what you have to be able to interrupt during a fault. The device's AIC (amperes interrupting capacity) must always be larger that the amount of fault current available at the location of the overcurrent protection.

I understand now. Thanks. So obviously my 200K rated fuse is sufficient for the 26675 AFC at transformer.

Thanks.

I am ready for inspection now.
