About 5 years ago Ran Wiring from the house to the garage ( About 50 Feet) ran a 110v Plus 2 More 110's For 220v Used all 12 Gauge Solid Copper Air Compressor pulls 15amp fl never had any problems that Air Compressor took a crap was about 20 years old Bought used one same size 15 amps fl, Well the Pump took a crap on this one i seen that the Electric Motor said that it was a 5 hp so i bought a 5hp V-Twin Cast iron Pump new changed the Motor pulley to make it turn the Pump at 1011 rpm, well it is to much for the motor keeps popping the Tremal Switch So right now I'm under drive the Pump with a smaller motor pulley seems to be working fine now, have been thinking about buying a new electric motor but the new one i want to do the job pulls 23 fl amp my under standing is that the wiring should be good to 20 amps I only have a 20 amps circuit breaker, can i used the 12 gauge wire or will i need to change it to 10 gauge?
