I'm from Canada but have friends in the states. My friends recently received a quote for some retrofit work that contains the following statements which I can only guess at the meanings. If anyone could clarify the meanings for me I would appreciate it. Perhaps your terminology/slang is a little different than here.
Thanks

Quotes:
"Provide main breaker at sub panel on detached building with over 6
movements".
"Provide rounding and grounding at all metal junction boxes".

It sounds like they want to be able so shut everything off in the attached building with a single main, I think when they are saying "movements" they are talking about the number of breaker handles in the existing panel.

I have no clue what "rounding" is, I have a feeling that is a typo and is supposed to read grounding and bonding at all junction boxes. I think they want a grounding conductor pulled in and bond at each box...

I'm not sure of the art # and I don't have my book here, Again:mad:
I beleive thay are stalking about the disconnect rule which is a panel that has more than 6 movements to turn off all circuits needs a main breaker...

The other is probably a typo "Grounding and Bonding"

Hope tis helps...JB

sorry for the double...one of the first post I've answered that I didn't start and I got beat to it:rolleyes:

1.If there are more than 6 movements of the hand to disconnect the building then a main breaker is needed.

2. Perhaps rounding means to round the edges or perhaps bushings at any JB.

Do you have some areas that use conduit for residential installations? If so is bonding and grounding with a separate conductor a mandatory thing or is it optional to use conduit (if steel) for the bonding?
