American States Slidelink Terminal Blocks

A Discussion developed in the shop the other day.
It concerned the use of American States slidelink terminal blocks. A new guy in the shop claims that because they aren't fingersafe and are no longer OSHA approved. I have been looking on the OSHA site and can't find that restriction. Plus I have check the suppliers and they said that they don't know of the probelm. But just like my other posts. The guys in our shop always want to keep as safe as we can. And if there are rules against using them we don't want to keep insalling them.

Re: American States Slidelink Terminal Blocks

I am not aware of any requirements that prohibit electrical equipment that is not fingersafe.

if that was the case just about every nema disconnect siwtch would be illegal.

having said that, they do reduce the inherent hazards of working inside a live control panel.

i am not a fan of these sliding link terminal blocks. i think there are better ways to handle the situation. all the iec terminal suppliers have a disconnecting block of some sort that is simpler to use, and easier to work with.
