Who acquired American Switch Co.? I have seen a few of their panels lately, with a smorgasbord of breaker brands in them. Thanks for any help.

The ASCO name has been around for around 100 years and have changed ownership since.
The new name is Vertiv. Big fish, little fish.....money talks.... nobody walks.

Always thought that ASCO was Automatic Switch Company, American Switch was part of Zinsco, then you had other companies like General Switch, Wadsworth, Frank Adam, & I'm sure there are other regional manufacturers not listed.

According to a advert on page 131 of the November 1972 issue of EC&M, ASCO, is Automatic Switch Co.

You're correct, my mistake.

Yeah, it happens.

What kills me at times is when I will ask a question and find out that someone else has asked the same thing and I was the guy who answered!!!!
That's happened to me too, not just in here but I've had Google find an answer to something that turned out to be me from 10+ years ago... Then I look at that response and wonder what the heck happened to those brain cells. :slaphead:

Damn, there goes another resource down the tubes for me, we used them for ATSs. My company will not buy anything related to Schneider... Long boring story, but the net effect is that every time Schneider buys a company that made something we use, we have to find alternatives.

Asco used to have a plant nearby (the old Delta Switchboard plant in Stockton) that made generator switchgear and they used GE components almost exclusively. Vertiv shuttered that plant in 2015, saying they moved the production to other facilities. Looks like they won't be using GE any more though.

Same here. I'll run across some paper I wrote or test I took in college, and I wonder what ever happened to that real smart fella.

Delta made pump panels with the most archaic design starters, electrician who did a lot of AG work used to replace them with Cutler-Hammer Citation, or Furnas, pump panels & yeah it was that long ago.:D
