Amount of protrusion of receptacle from wall plate

do you pay attention to it? GFCIs seem to stick out more. Do you try to make them stick out, or make them flush with the plate?
 
Getting the flush would take some doing IMO - 'doing' that I aint doing....

So, what are you doing???? Chipping out rock to get the recpt further back?

If you want flush... Lutron Claro

Don't pay for that and the screwless plates to go with them - you get the typ. install - plaster ears on the rock and the plate on the wall. If one sticks out more than the other - tough....
 
I?ve also noticed this with the resi TR receptacles. They stick out more from the wall plates, even with the foam plate gaskets installed.
It seems that the face is thicker than the standard receptacles to allow for the TR mechanism. It appears that the solution may be either a thicker wall plate or some sort of spacer between the plate and the receptacle.
At the moment, still an ?unresolved issue?, but I haven?t had any customer complaints about this?yet.
 
Section 406.4(D) states that after installation, receptacle faces shall be flush with or project from faceplates of insulating material and shall project a minimum of 0.4 mm from metal faceplates.

Why would you? What's the biggie? The receptacle should stick out, If it dosen't you have screwed tit in too tightly.
