You can use the 90 degree column for ampacity adjustment, but only if the conductor is rated for it?

In Mike Holt's article, he uses an example of ampacity adjustment for THWN conductor and uses the 90 degree column for ampacity adjustment. But THWN isn't listed for 90 degrees in table 310.16, only THWN-2 is. Can you still use the 90 degree column for THWN or no?

Is the conductor rated THHN/THWN and in a dry location? If it is only THWN (somewhat rare) it is only rated at 75°C.
