Today I tried using a standard lutron skylark fan speed control on a very old Emerson ceiling fan. The high position on the switch worked just fine but I got nothing out of the medium and slow positions. The owner in the past has run this fan on a standard rheostat "just fine". Any suggestions for a workable speed control. The "factory speed control" is a 4 position dial located on the bottom of the fan and is labeled 1, 2, 3, and off but the owner is to short to reach it.
